What can we learn from the My Brother Jordan Documentary?

To put simply. Wow. I am an emotional person so to be moved by something isn’t very difficult for me. But that documentary had my abs hurting from laughing, my heart pounding on my chest and my eyes never ending waterfalls.

Only a three hour movie can take you on an emotional rollercoaster like that, not a one hour documentary. To say the absolute least, this documentary opened my eyes about the differences people experience during their lifetime and the moments in life that really make it all worth living.

Firstly, I am not a practicing Christian, as illustrated in the documentary, so the way these four boys were raised was very foreign to me. Being home schooled and not being able to go to the movies is just unheard of. But I guess if you were to ask, none of the Robinsons boys would have it any other way as they wouldn’t have made those funny home movies, all those friendships with next door neighbours and competed in the street hockey matches. So, to me their life growing up was perfect. They had each other and that compensated for just about anything.

I would say my life growing up was sort of similar. Of course, no church or Bible readings, but I grew up with my mum and my two sisters. We would spend all of our time together growing up, be with our cousins and family friends every weekend…
